Hello and welcome to my personal website! I'm Matei Mandache. I was born on the 12th May 1995. My family is Romanian, but I grew up in the UK. I currently live in Bristol in the UK. Current employment

In November 2023, I started working as an actuarial analyst at DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company (now part of the ARAG Group). I am part of the team that ensures we have enough money in reserve to cover all the claims the company's customers will make. PLEASE NOTE The views expressed on this website are entirely my own, and not those of ARAG.

Education and career

From 2013 to 2017 I studied mathematics at the University of Cambridge, completing both an undergraduate degree (BA) and a master's degree (MMath). From October 2017 to September 2018 I was a DPhil (equivalent of PhD) student at the University of Oxford. In 2021 I spent a few months working at Redwood Technologies as a software developer. I then became part of a research group led by Professor Timothy Gowers, and started a PhD at the University of Cambridge in October 2022. I withdrew from this PhD in March 2023. Creative writing

I occasionally do some creative writing, mostly of short stories. You can find some of my stories here.

Running

I used to go on runs. In 2017 I completed the Cambridge half marathon.
